Growing up, I was almost always the only white kid in the room.
This episode is a personal Deep Dive into how that shaped the way I see race, power, empathy, and the world around me. I talk about shame, belonging, performance, privilege, and how early social discomfort helped me recognize the difference between individual prejudice and institutional injustice.
This isn’t about comparing suffering or claiming understanding of experiences that aren’t mine. It’s about how proximity to difference can train awareness — and why exposure to people outside of ourselves might be the most powerful tool we have for dismantling false narratives and learning to see one another clearly.

This edition of the Weekly Newsish starts with the death of Alex Pretti and a broader look at government-sponsored violence, why this moment feels different, and what people are realizing about how fragile their rights really are. From there, I move through science and tech stories, international oddities, entertainment news from Sundance to the Grammys, and close with local stories following the winter storm.

I go game by game, laying out how each one unfolded, where the real pivot points were, and what these performances say about the teams and people involved.
