I start with a story about my son’s autism social skills group and the ironic sight of a room full of autistic parents trying to avoid talking to each other. We briefly touch on the strange reports of biblical “end times” rhetoric inside military discussions, and then move on to everything from celebrity arrests and bizarre crime stories to evolutionary theories about alcohol, basketball explosions, Texas sports gossip, and of course the weekly Waco update.

In this second part of the Pets of the House story, our family grows in ways I didn’t fully expect. What started with two calm older dogs slowly becomes a house full of personalities—cats, visiting dogs, kids, and even a lizard quietly watching it all from the background. It’s a story about the strange little society that forms inside a home with animals, the lessons they teach our kids about love and loss, and the way life keeps moving forward even after one of the most loyal members of the family is gone.

This week’s Newsish starts with a Six Flags birthday trip that didn’t go as planned and my first time trying to ice skate.
